Vernon Robbins on Emerging Jesus Traditions

October 2, 2013

Yesterday, while checking my campus mailbox, I was surprised and delighted to find the newest book by Vernon Robbins (a scholar whose work I appreciate very much). The book (for which I must thank the good people at Eerdmans), is titled, Who Do People Say I Am? Rewriting Gospel in Emerging Christianity, and traces the emergence of important Jesus traditions from the canonical gospels through important second and third century texts. I will have a full review in due course, but for now I should point out that the book is clearly aimed for teaching, is light on footnotes, and has questions at the end of each chapter. Robbins has also authored several blog posts over at EerdWord related to the book (see here, here, and here). I look forward to reading and reporting on this book very soon.
